A revised tipsheet issued by
the Agency for Healthcare
Research and Quality (AHRQ) provides 10 evidence-based
tips and tools to prevent adverse events from occurring
in hospitals. New additions include resources for:
reducing hospital readmissions, preventing
hospital-acquired venous thromboembolism, educating
patients about using blood thinners safely,
following evidence-based
principles for hospital design, and working with Patient
Safety Organizations. Based
on AHRQ-supported research, each tip includes a brief
synopsis of the safety problem facing hospitals and how
the resources from AHRQ can help.
